The idea
Every block has someone who shovels the neighbor’s walk, organizes the potluck, coaches the team, or just always waves. Neighbor Spotlight is a place to say thank you — with short, friendly stories about real people across Cedar Rapids and Linn County.
Nominate a neighbor
Email [email protected] with:
- Your neighbor’s name and community
- A few sentences about what makes them special
- Your name and how to reach you
- A photo, if they’re happy to share one
We’ll always ask the neighbor’s permission before we publish anything. Our first spotlights are coming soon — maybe it’ll be someone on your street!

Some moments deserve a little extra applause. Neighbor Milestones celebrates the big, once-in-a-lifetime achievements around Linn County — not everyday birthdays, but the kind of news that makes the whole block proud.
